Looking to go out and try some Mexican food. How have yall responded and what did you eat?
I am in a flare right now (Never been in remission) Was diagnosed 3 Months ago.
I have generally somewhat lenient diet, I can tolerate pizza generally with pepperoni and love Japanese food. But I need to expand. I tend to struggle with any kind of dairy except cheese (weird). I had half a hamburge and felt like okay I kinda felt bad but it was horrible. im learning. Just curious about
yalls experiences.
Today is my last day of steroid taper, and generally only time I hurt is when I move a ton like rolling around in bed and during a bowel movement. Blood has been Inconsistent Most oft he time its a little but had one bowel movement that was a lot yesterday

if it was chicken feet or tripe, i'd say pass - but Mexican food ......... how can you say no !
only one way to find out, but whatever the outcome, one meal won't make or break your situation - enjoy

I'm fine with pretty much all foods except the exceptionally spicey variety. Mexican food is good, i just go with mild chili or salsa, and don't add any hot sauce. Spicey pepper oils are indigestible and irritate the digestive tract from lips to bumm which is okay for nornal folks but a bad idea for those of us with IBD.

Are we talking genuine Mexican food prepared by actual Mexican people? If so, it tends to be pretty simple ingredient wise...Taco is just corn tortilla, lightly seasoned chicken or shredded beef, lettuce, cheese, homemade salsa and lime. Shouldn't be a problem. If we're talking taco Bell or some other Americanized version I'd steer clear.
You probably don't have a a problem with cheese because most cheese has no lactose. Just be aware that the pre-shredded or crumbled stuff in the grocery store is part cheese/ part attic insulation. Not joking.

I love mexican food and do pretty well with it as long as I'm not having a really active flare. My favorite thing is to get fajitas - I skip the tortilla and rice (if I'm in a good place, I love beans!) and get an extra side of guac. My tummy is usually pretty happy with those things - I can handle a little hot sauce usually too!
Now I'm hungry....

I would start with something like chicken soft tacos (mild) with some guacamole (Corn tortilla). Avoid beans or big heavy portions and sauces.
