Stomach flu with Ulcerative Colitis

I have been feeling wonderful on a combination of Entyvio and Methotrexate for 18 months now and I got a stomach bug/flu last week. Felt terrible for 2-3 days, felt back to normal for 2 days then got hit again a few days ago and it still continues. Can't say it's terrible as I only go 1-2 times per day (it's all diarrhea) no vomiting, but I have stomach cramping and light nausea. I feel like the times where I get worse were are when I try to eat normally like tomatoes and salad....Can your food choices prolong your stomach flu symptoms?

I agree that stomach bugs can and do trigger flares. Every time I have had a flare up since being diagnosed it is because of a stomach bug. I would ask to be screened for c-diff and other bacterial infections.

I never had symptoms before a bad stomach flu (7 days of serious diarrhea, only puked once, but was SO nauseated for about 15 days total). I must admit I had some bowl habit changes before the illness, but nothing that resembled UC. Nothing was ever the same after that illness.

The flu is respiratory!

"Stomach flu" does not exist. When discussing health-related matters it is important to be accurate to help prevent confusion and the spread of misinformation.

What most people refer to as "stomach flu" is any gastrointestinal infection, or food intoxication, caused by any number of infectious bacteria or viruses, or toxins derived from a microbe.

Such GI infections are not caused by the influenza virus which, as someone already pointed out, cause the respiratory illness, influenza, also known as "the flu."
