So I'm being admitted. The new doc was awesome and spent over 45 min with me taking about my history as well as a plan on how we want to move ahead. He reinforced how sick I am and said we need to address that first and foremost. His office is expediting the admitting process so I don't have to go to the ER.

Plan- get CT scan to ensure nothing else is going on (especially since pain was really a lot worse today), more blood work, sigmoid just to see the end part of the colon, and a dose of IV pred to see if I respond to that. We are discussing remicade and didn't even talk about surgery bc he wanted me to get to the hospital.

So now we have been sitting in his waiting room until we are given the go-ahead to drive to the hospital. He said it'll be at least a few days staying there. At least I have hope that things will get better from here on out. Can't get worse right?

I am sorry to hear it - you've been struggling with severe symptoms for quite a while now. I really hope you're able to get things under control quickly!

Sounds like the best plan. Letnus know how you're doing while in the hospital. Hope the Remi works well for you.

Thanks everyone. Not feeling better yet but I hope to be. They gave me a roommate this am who may have the flu, which is why she was admitted. So I'm a little peeved, needless to say.!everyone who comes in and out needs to be gowned and masked. But not me apparently?!?

And the worst part is they don't want me crossing over to her side to let me use the bathroom. So I have to use a commode. With going close to 20X per day, you won't even let me use a real toilet?!? I for the roommate with the impending smell, sounds, etc. but if it's what they require. So much for having any dignity left :/

Wow. I didn't know they still had double rooms anymore.

I am sorry you have to be in the hospital and that you have a roommate.

Question; (not to scare you) Does entyvio suppress your immune system? Or does it not matter with the flu?

Logistically....You would think they would move you closer to the bathroom. After answering the nurse call button 20 times and helping you change gowns and bedding they might think of that.

Yea it's a hospital in a major city- we have a few hospitals here and for some reason it's super busy!

They have a ton of hand sanitizer machines the nurses are using when the come in and out. I chose to still use the bathroom and gown up, add a mask and gloves, all to get to the bathroom. Mind you I also have urgency and hadnto unplug my IV machine and get to the restroom in time. Wasn't exactly gen most convenient. But I wanted the privacy more than using the commode.
They did actually move me to another room, which is closer to a bathroom. It's quieter and less exposure. They didn't tell me why they were moving me but I overheard them say it was confirmed that the woman who I was rooming with before has the flu.

Idk what I would do cupcakes- if I had to do a prep on a commode! Wow. I feel for you, I do!

I'm feeling a ton better. I know I prob still have a long way to go but I'm only going once every other hour and no blood. I think being forced to just sit here and rest is helping, along with the prednisone, the IV fluids, and not eating any solid food- I actually only got clear liquids this evening.

Tomorrow is another flexsigmoid and then we will figure out if I need Remicade.

Great news! I'm glad they got you moved and that you are feeling better. Sounds like this doctor has a good plan. I was always surprised how much better bowel rest and IV fluids could make me feel.

And the prep in the commode could have been worse. They first brought in a bed pan and wanted me to do the prep in that because my hemoglobin was so low they didn't want me out of bed until I got more blood and iron. I refused and wasn't dizzy so was insisting on using the bathroom. We compromised on the commode and they moved me to a private room. Still awful but definitely could have been worse. You never realize how great it is to be able to flush until you can't!

I'm doing okay thanks. Was going once every hour during the night/am so that takes a lot out of you when you can't sleep bc you're running to the bathroom. I basically have my own bathroom bc my roommate uses her commode- that's a bonus. And I got a shower today- how refreshing that was!

My symptoms are still the same. Im still at 60mg pred and they did a sigmoid yesterday to take a cmv biopsy - when they comes back negative, they plan to proceed with the Remicade. Prob won't be back until Monday at this point. The doc said they may keep me a few more days to see if I need a follow up remicade treatment in case the first one doesn't absorb (my words not his). Soooo not sure how long I'll be in, but at this point I'm getting rest, the care I need, and more comfortable than I would be at home.

Remicade...I felt different the first time I got it. Immediate difference. I hope you have a good, strong and lasting remission with Remicade.
