From Louisiana so love hot food crawfish , seafood, gumbo
Just looking for advice thanks!
Hey there Underarmour, I was recently diagnosed as well, just about
a month ago so I don't have much advice because I'm still trying to figure out how to treat my own symptoms but I saw your from Louisiana! I grew up here in Louisiana as well and I'm right there with you cause my wife and I went out and had Crawfish last night. In fact I been eating it about
twice a week since it came in season. I don't feel like the spicy food has made anything worse other than if I have a loose stool and then it burns coming out lol. If my stool stays firm then I don't feel the heat at all when I have a bowel movement. From reading a lot of posts on this forum I see that everyone seems to tolerate foods differently. A lot of people have problems with dairy or have to go on Gluten free diets. I have not identified a particular food so far that makes things worse for me but I cut out sodas and nuts so far. I stopped soda because the carbonation was giving me gas and with loose stools it was just better for me to cut it out. I now ask for lemonade when at a restaurant and if they don't have that I'll drink sweat tea. The nuts I read don't digest well and can scratch your colon so I cut those out but honestly I didn't eat many nuts anyway. Also if I eat chips I make sure to chew them up more than I used to. Especially chips with corn in them as your body doesn't digest corn that well.
Only advice I can give you so far that I've learned is to always be prepared for the worse. I carry an extra change of clothes in my truck now, especially underwear and pants/shorts. I also carry wet wipes(individually wrapped) as they help with irritation if I have loose bowel movements. I got the flushable kind from Walgreens cause I just carry them for use in public restrooms. My wife and I go out a lot, we went to Kinder for Crawfish last night and are headed up North to Shreveport/Bossier City today to see Kong at the Imax and shop at the Boardwalk. I use public restrooms a lot and sometimes the toilet paper they have is that really thin cheap stuff and I hate that when I have a loose stool or if my rectal area is slightly sore that cheap stuff can be scratchy. So keeping wet wipes in my pocket when out and about
has really made me feel a little better. I feel cleaner if I have to go to the bathroom and these wipes have aloe in them so they sooth my sore bum too. Haven't had to use my extra change of clothing yet but I carry it under the back seat of my truck anyway.
Great to see someone else from Louisiana!! I live in the middle part of the state around the Alexandria area but we travel all over. If you know some great places to eat in Louisiana let me know cause we love trying new places!
