Butt Crack question... seriously!!

Calmoseptine ointment you usually find sold behind the pharmacy counter is awesome for external discomfort like you're describing Jenn. Someone on these very forums suggested it months ago and I asked my pharmacist if he carried it, sure enough, it was in stock. It's very thick, more like a cream and has a scent to it but once you apply it, the discomfort goes away and healing begins.

My mother being a diabetic would get this and sometimes would not go away for weeks. I read in an article that this was some type of fungus, similar to athletes foot. I went to the store and bought some ointment for athletes foot and low and behold it disappeared within hours. Although on occasion it does return just re-apply. Worked wonders!

I love this post! Everything you've ever wanted to know about everyone else's butt crack. Ok, so I'm having problems as well. I suspect mine is a pilonidal cyst. Everyone in my family has fought this. Has any females here ever dealt with this?

The cysts you mentioned that form in that area are the pilonidal cysts. They generally happen to teenage young men. My grandson just had one. Very painful. His developed a secondary infection because the hair in that area grew inside the cyst and a hole formed that leaked pus and blood. He wound up at the ER. Surgeon had to drain and pack it. He had to wait til all the infection healed up. Now he is scheduled for surgery to actually remove the cyst as if left there they can grow tentacles that wrap around the spine he was told. Also, there is no guarantee it won't grow back. The surgeon told his dad and mom you are born with a cavity in that area that may or may not develop into this type of cyst. If you think this is what you may have, you should have it checked out by your doctor sooner rather than later.

Glad this thread was bumped up, 'cos this is a problem which has been bothering me for yonks. It's worse at some times than at others. I also have a small external hemmie which comes and goes. I shall try the EVOO first of all and see how that goes. I do have calmoseptine but it doesn't help a lot. It's better than nothing though.

Quincy - I googled it and it is indeed available in the UK <_<. The only drawback is it doesn't seem to be OTC. Means I'll have to make an appointment with my GP and tell her I have piles, so can I have some proctosedyl please... :/

Reckon I'll concentrate more on the anal pain/itching part. I did tell her about it once and she recommended sudafed, but that's even more useless than calmoseptine.

lol, I must be even more braindead than usual >_>. I meant sudacrem of course! Not sure what the US/Canadian equivalent would be but it's an antiseptic healing cream for nappy rash, etc.
