Chills fever headache

Good morning all.

Wondering if anyone else has gone through chills, fever, headache, from enemas or meds. Not all the time but twice now in the past three weeks. Lasts for a few hours then just a dull headache for another couple hours and then gone. Have I got a bug or is this side effects.

Find out by having a stool test if you have a gut-specific bug.
If you take oral meds with no problem you could be sensitive to the preservatives in the rectal meds. There is a sulfite-free enema called Rowasa-sf, not available generic however.

You'll have to do detective work on what might be causing it by process of elimination.

Thanks for info. Never had a problem with Asacol but since I started enemas just those 2 incidences. Will ask about stool sample with GI.

Sounds like you have a common flu or cold to me.

If it was a mesalazine intolerance, you'd be having a reaction after every dose, not just every now and then. I suspect it's just a coincidence, but if it comes back again you could give the sulfur-free enema a go.

I thought it may be just a flu bug or like it. No runny/stuffy nose but I know there are many different cold and flu symptoms. So possibility. Feel fine now. Just wanted to know if anyone else had from meds etc.
