Pred or Remicade that worked??

Had my first flare and diagnosis in Mid June. Colonoscopy followed by Apriso and Lialda which did nothing but made it worse. Hospital stay for a week. Starting 40mg of prednisone during hospital visit. Lost 25 lbs.

Had my first Remicade infusion last Tuesday and now currently on 25mgs of pred.

Going almost normal. No blood. Pretty solid 2-3 times a day.

So does Remicade work that fast? Or is it the prednisone?

I'm tapering 5 mg every 5 days.

Still can't gain a pound. Eating normal foods. Drinking RAW milk twice a
Day....it's so good. Maybe it's the milk I dunno.

quite possible -

most likely the pred is the biggest contributor at this point - but even the remicade could be helping -

truly there is no way to know for sure, just keep doing what you are doing -

My vote is it's the pred thus far. Not impossible that remicade helped, but few get that quick of a respinse. Give remicade at least 2-3 infusions for a response.

Now pred on the other hand, that's a drag racer for many...

You can see very quick results with Remicade. Often times the same day. My son was very sick and was massively improved by the time we got home from his first infusion. It took a couple more infusions and eventually an increased dose to make the results last, but I was amazed how quickly the first dose worked (it only lasted 10 days initially until a couple more doses).

If you noticed major improvement right after the Remicade, I would say it would be a hell of a coincidence if the Remicade wasn't a major factor.

Hard to tell, because I'm not sure how long you were on the pred before the Remicade. But yes, if the major improvement happened after Remicade, then I would say it's more likely to be that. It's quite fast acting for a biologic: it usually takes 2-3 infusions to start working fully (longer in some people), but most people will get some response after the 1st infusion.
