Surgery date set

So it's official. I'm moving forward with surgery on Aug 25. It will give me two months to heal before the wedding, hankfully. I meet with the ostemy nurse th Monday before my procedure. Would it be helpful for
My fiancé to go with me to this appt so he can learn/help me?

I had two accidents again in the past two days- now wearing adult diapers all the time :/ so needless to say I'm ready- beyond ready - for this surgery.

I also was trying to think positively- this will be my last bowel prep ever!!! Small victories!!! I literally can't wait to get this over with.

I am excited for you to put UC in the past. I think it's a good decision & that you will be amazed how much you're able to enjoy your wedding. I try to be level-headed and not pursued anyone one way or the other, but it sounds like this is likely the path to you getting your quality of life back. How did the meeting go? Did you ask a lot of questions? Did you feel confident in the surgeon's abilities? Did he/she talk about fertility? post surgical pain management? Do you have post operative home nurse care? My ostomy nurse went to my hospital room to see me once and she helped me change, then I had the home nurse a few times after... My SO didn't come with me to my nurse appt immediately before surgery. He did go with me to meet the surgeon when I consulted. I think either way can work out. My guy never helped me with my pouch.

It feels weird to say this about a major surgery...but I'm excited for you! Now you can start your new marriage and adventures without uc. Keep us posted on everything. But I imagine we'll hear very little from you as you're entire world will change for the better!

As a caretaker, I encourage you to take your fiancé to doc appointments. It's a different perspective but caretakers need to come to terms with everything that is entailed too.

Congrats and best wishes on both your surgery and upcoming wedding! I would definitely include your fiancé in the process leading up to your surgery so that he understands what is going on and can be helpful.
