Hi everyone!
First, I'd like to say how much support I feel from reading all the posts and conversations on here. It's been a wonderful resource that keeps me from feeling isolated during those rough patches.
Brief background... I'm a 40 year-old male diagnosed with "mild" active ulcerative colitis back in 2015. I've been fairly successful on my current regiment of Lialda (4xday) and Canasa mesalamine suppositories (1xday). I wouldn't say I have achieved remission, however, the meds do seem to keep major symptoms (urgency, gas pain, blood in stool) at bay, with occasional flares now and again.
I'm posting because I've been experiencing unusual symptoms and would like to know if they sounds familiar to anybody. For the past three days I've had this ache near my tailbone that favors the left side. It's most noticeable when I contract my sphincter as if to pull air in or when I sit down. It's dull but constant and the pain seems to have increased little by little since it started. Feels almost like a bruise on the inside with a little bit of burning sensation. I feel it when I walk briskly and if I put pressure on the tailbone area. So far bowel movements don't seem to aggravate it which makes me wonder what the heck it is... has anybody experienced symptoms like these before? At first I thought maybe hemorrhoid or lesion. Fistula maybe?
I appreciate any and all feedback!
