It can be really hard to retain if you are flaring. Some tips that help are to squeeze all the air out first and try only squirting half the bottle in, also warm up the bottle to room temperature in the winter by running it under hot water for a few minutes. I think there is a foam version available in some countries.

You could lay a towel down under you if you are worried about staining. Spot Shot carpet cleaner takes the stains out of carpet (sometimes when I toss it in the garbage next to my bed, some drops get on the carpet). It does stain your toilet seat, and I've just accepted that. Also, if you can just will yourself to hold it in for a minute or two, usually the urge to expel it goes away in my experience. A lot of times I just use half the bottle. Good luck. There are also suppositories, but they dont reach as high.

I'd agree with everything Sara said above. Squeeze all of the air out, ignore that feeling to immediately evacuate (a strong sensation for the first minute) and then it does go away. Lay on your left side for 20-minutes.

If you're too inflamed to initially retain the rowasa, then ask for a few weeks of steroid suppositories, enemas, or foams to get the inflammation tamed a bit. Afterwards resume the rowasa.

Used it for many years. Never an issue
