One last question.......currently experiencing a serious personal issue (marriage over after MANY years). Will your emotions take a toll on the UC? Yesterday I felt so bad I didn’t leave the house but stayed on the sofa most of the day. Have to go out today to buy of all things......toilet paper.
Sorry to hear you're having relationship troubles on top of a UC flare, talk about
a one-two-punch :-(
Yes, stress is the most frequently mentioned trigger of flares. Periods of prolonged stress that goes on for months can sometimes trigger a flare. Not sure if it is the stress itself, or the other things adjunct to it: we sleep worse, eat worse, etc. Stress isn't guaranteed to cause flares, by any means. Certainly it's good to limit the stress in one's life as much is possible (avoid high-drama people, limit work stress, etc.) but stress is an unavoidable part of life and therefore not completely avoidable. Coping with stress, not dwelling on it, and finding healthy outlets to unwind are key.
