The first few weeks are really tough. The next few are a little better, but still tough. I feel like it was probably 10 weeks or more that had passed before I felt like things were easier to manage. In the beginning, I didn't have urgency, but I did have gas, and I couldn't tell what was what, I had a few shart type incidents. I was so scared to push anything unless I was on the toilet - I literally felt like I would explode from gas and not pushing, but it does find it's way out whether you push or not,

. It was probably for the best that I didn't force it because my judgement was off, or my body wasn't ready for that, but now I can do things like I always had. I agree with Keith's suggestions about
eating starchy foods and not eating too late, and of course, protect your bum... Potatoes always slow things for me. Handheld bidet was really necessary for me the first few weeks. All my hemmies healed. It's not like i have the perfect situation, I'd love to go 1x per day, but I don't suffer with frequent fissures or anything like that these days.
