All of those are very, very common with UC flares. It's troubling to see blood in stool. Fresh blood is bright-red, and originates within your rectum. Older blood darkens and can become red wine-colored or almost purple in color, the coloration is suggestive of higher-intestinal bleeding from UC (left-side, sigmoid colon, and beyond). Blood from above the small intestine is pure black (stomach or small intestine).
No interactions with Sulfasalazine and other mesalamines.
