Strong probiotics like vsl can cause a lot of gas and bloating. I had crazy flatulence on vsl, my dear wife called me fartzilla lol.
When starting a probiotic, ease into it. Start with half doses for a few days before going full dose. That might help with the bloating/discomfort.
Probiotics work for some but not all. I gave vsl a 1-month trial and then discontinued. All it did was make me gassy. Some swear by probiotics as working great for them. No guarantees on uc-land, but lots of things to give a fair try!
