Hair loss and thinning hair is one of those things that often happens during UC flares whether we are on medications or not. It appears to be a delayed-reaction to the flare, delayed by about 2-months. We can loose hair due to one or more of the following: malnutrition as we barely eat and digest food poorly during flares, due to low blood-iron (an anemia), low vitamins D, B12, and B.
Hair-regrowth is a delayed-reaction to recovery from your UC flare, about 2-month delay.
Medications can rarely cause it, more often than not it is for one of the aforementioned reasons. If every UC medication lists hair loss as a rare side effect, despite them all having entirely different mechanisms of action, different active ingredients, and different inactive ingredients it makes me think the UC is the cause.
Took a look at the picture and I've definitely seen a lot worse during flares, I am not sure what the before photo would be like though.
