I'm surprised they don't have me prep like you do for a scope. They only have me on liquid diet. And I'm so hungry haha they gave me shakes that helps a little. I'm checking in at 9 am (it's 7 now) and the surgery will be at 11 am.

Good luck! Post when you feel well enough to do. I bet you'll love the new UC-free you, putting your UC in the rear-view mirror, and moving on with the rest of your life

Ok folks I woke up and my stoma is beautiful. Surgeon came after I woke up and said I look good. I already have output. it's weird that I no longer have to run to the bathroom. I don't have a colon anymore. It's like kicking a bad tenant out haha I'm so happy. Now things will get better for sure.

How many steps will you have? 2 or 3 steps.
My GI told me that you wake up and feel like the monster has left your body. It’s hard to explain unless you have the surgery but I woke up from the colectomy and just felt better

Wow.....great to hear! Did the doc mention the shape of your now-gone colon?
Wishing you smooth recovery,

Heather, yes he said it was bad. He sent it to pathology and we'll have a result in a week or so.
Hi Keith I will have 3 steps.
I can tell the difference already. No more cramps, no more getting up to rush to the bathroom.

Congrats! Glad to hear everything went well. I remember feeling that same way after the first step. I was in pain, but I wasn’t sick anymore. I was happy to make the trade.
Be patient with yourself and your recovery. It takes a bit, but everyday you will get a little stronger.

You've been through a lot in the past day. How long do you think you will be there? Are you free of that drain tube?

NSSG- I hated it too! I had it after my 1st of 2 surgeries— all 11days in the hospital, then about
a week at home. Could not wait to get it out! Adriana-I’m surprised they took it out so soon. It serves an important purpose, so its good they put it back in. Hopefully, it will be out by the time you go home.
