expired sfRowasa ok?

Im in California and my son is flaring again but I’m unable to find any pharmacy that can get the SfRowasa (i know a few people on here have had some success but I’m hitting a wall). I do however have 10 whole boxes of sfRowasa in my closet (he was taking it daily and we mail ordered a 90 day supply but then his doctor took him off it bc he was in remission). My only hesitation in using it is that the packages expired 07/2018. I normally would think it was still okay to use but given that it is sulfite free does that mean it is even more susceptible to spoilage. What do others think? Would they go ahead and use the expired meds? Anyone have luck getting more SF Rowasa in CA?

Probably still good. Generally, most medications are good for over a year (and often much longer) past their expiration date. Worstcase, is the medication isn't as potent and looses some of its strength past the expiration date (90% potent is better than zero).

I'd recommend taking one of the enemas out (preferably one still within the sealed, foil packaging), taking the cap off, and looking at the color of the liquid within. It's normal for the content to darken a bit over time. It's normally white, and can get a bit darker in tone and that's acceptable. If it's jet-black probably gone bad.

I've read getting swRowasa is challenging, to say it politely.

The thing with sfRowasa is that it doesn’t have a preservative, no metabisulfite which is in regular Rowasa. If they are still white or tan, I think they would still be good, but if they are dark brown, they aren’t. I hate that they go bad within two weeks of opening the seal, it is such an expensive medication, one would expect it to last longer.
