Many Canadians spend 6 months every year in Florida (where I live) and they pay for extended travel insurance to cover them while here, Canada has a high incidence of UC so some of them must be treated in US with your RX. Another search you can do is "ex-pat forums" because health insurance is a big discussion for people who retire in a different country than where their national health insurance is located.
As a younger person your insurance premium should be lower than a retiree but don't know whether you'll get "rated" due to UC. Each insurance company could be different so check 2 to compare.
Why not start with a shorter trip to try foreign travel out. You''ll learn more as you travel and talk to people like you. "When shall we live if not now" (Seneca, Roman philosopher).
Good luck!
