You should be able to get additional medications dispensed to you before leaving for your trip. I would recommend getting them filled in your home country that way, and taking them with you. Just might need the proof of your travel itinerary/tickets/reservations and a doctor's note to get them dispensed in advance. You can travel with up to 3-months of your prescription medications with you according to TSA regs. I would keep several days of medications with you in your carry on luggage, the rest I would keep in your checked-luggage. This covers the case "what if my luggage is mixed up, at least I have a few days to get it straightened out."
I'm not sure how your health coverage works when abroad. Here in the USA, we can get coverage that includes international travel (either have that all of the time, or get it for just the weeks we will be away). I would look into it, and purchase ahead of time if available.
Cannot hurt to have traveler's insurance, incase you cannot go due to a sudden flare up.
Jealous, I want to go to Australia some day too!
