I have just begun 2 salafalk enemas daily plus oral salafalk. I am worried this may be hard on my liver, does anyone know if the enemas actually get absorbed through the body or it just stays entirely in the rectum?

Do you have liver issues already? It's a topical as is the oral. Low absorption.

No I don't have liver issues but I worry about
all the salafalk I take when I'm flaring. I am definitely a worrier😟

It's not metabolised through the liver, but it does do a second pass once in the bloodstream (which is a very small amount).
Does your doc do regular liver and kidney blood testing?

Just get a complete metabolic panel (blood test) done periodically if you're worried about
it.

You'll be fine. Mesalamine is a 90% topical med, the rest we pee out (can darken your pee). So, only a small amount goes through the kidneys.
