Hello all 😊
So I have just gone down to 20mg of Prednisolone from 25mg for the 2nd time in a month and the blood and mild cramps start after 2-3 days. I am thankfully not having lots of bowel movements, I have taken paracetamol just to take the edge off. It’s not agony or anything, more frustration.

My question is, should I go back up or wait and see if it pans out? Excuse the pun 😉 A sense of humour. Is a must at these trying times.

You need to discuss this with your doctor. You shouldn't make taper decisions without his/her input, IMO.

What other meds are you on? Are you using rectals at all? They can sometimes tide you through rough spots. Then again you may need to start considering a step up in medication.

I am on 100mg of azathioprine, but yes thats great advice, I have pentasa enemas so maybe a 7 day course will tide me over?

Going back to your last safe dose (without blood and cramping) and contacting your gasteroenterologist. Standard protocol for regression to a flare when tapering pred.

Flaring again at 20 mgs likely means you need much stronger meds like remicade or humira.
