Especially for Forum members in NYC and suburbs, Mrs. Jill Roberts, who funded 2 IBD practices at Weill Cornell Medical Center, died recently at age 82. The published obituaries do not specify the cause, but many WC patients knew that she suffered from RA for years. She supported immunological research longterm, which led her to adopt our cause with great compassion and generosity ca. 2006. Her fervent advocacy really set a gold standard in IBD philanthropy; she always put patient care first, while also supporting IBD research and education programs. Having met her in person, I feel certain that she'd worry about
us in the pandemic situation, too. / Old Hat (39 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

Thank you for this information, I never heard of her.
Why do the good ones die? They should live to 120 or longer but not in pain or suffering.

IMA, our principal IBD gastroenterologist says that we were lucky to have her presence for as long as we did. JR was physically fragile for years so it must have been her strong spirit that kept her functioning. She leaves behind a husband (for 62 yrs!), 4 adult kids, & 5 grandkids. / Old Hat (39 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

Thank you for sharing this Old Hat. I am very grateful for all the IBD doctors and researchers. And doctors in general have so much respect from me. Stay safe
