Iv Contrast CT Scan

Hello everyone,
So due to the my fast heartrate the doctor wants to do a CT Lung Scan with IV to detect any blood clots. Has anyone ever done a "IV" scan? Any good/bad reactions? Few months ago I did a barium contrast x-ray and the contrast really messed up my UC further. Even though this is IV I would like to be sure.

Contrast will be injected into your vein. You just need to drink lots of water after to flush kidneys. It’s no biggie. Makes you feel very warm in the groin area. But it’s quick.

I had complications from an IV-contrast lung scan where a diuretic was also injected. It really messed up my bladder causing lasting urgency bigtime, which I never ever had before. So I would advise you NOT to rush into that type of CT-scan because a gyn-surgeon I've seen since then told me that the contrast used for lung assessment is one of the strongest. After mine the RN informed me that they had added a diuretic "to help you expel that contrast quickly" -- well, it was a disaster I wouldn't recommend to anybody. / Old Hat (39 yrs with left-sided UC; presently in remission taking brandname Colazal)

I've had a few Ct's with contrast & never had an issue. I had a mild heart attack & blood hit my lung in 2013, no problems then.

Old Hat sounds like you have a sensitivity to diuretics. One of my BP meds has it in w/no problems.

Thank you for all the advice my doctor said it was not necessary to take the CT so I avoided it!
