Hello All,
Just wondering if it is okay to try and get pregnant while taking Pred? I was prescribed a two month dose tapering every week ( currently on 15mg) we were hoping to try this month as our wedding got pushed out to late next year due to COVID and we were hoping to try and have a baby beforehand.
Feeling great on the Pred symptoms have completely gone for the moment, continuing my nightly Saloflak enema and oral Saloflak in mornings.
Was originally diagnosed in April 20โ with UP.
Any help would be great ๐
Thanks

I donโt recommend it. I TTC too while on hydrocortisone enemas and I ended up miscarrying because once I tapered off I flared up again. My doc recommended to be in remission for 3 months before TTC. Good luck!

I don't understand....Why would you want to get pregnant during the virus crisis the world is in? Tapering pred, from what I read, isnt an easy feat.
Please put your desires after safety.

I'm hoping to TTC, too, but my doctor recommended 3 months of remission without use of steroids before trying.
It's hard to wait when you want to try to grow your family, I understand. I hope you get well soon.

It's best for mom to be within a sustained remission before becoming pregnant. As that's what'll produce the most uneventful pregnancy and best outcome for your child. Flaring badly while pregnant can result in a preterm birth with complications or miscarriage. If you have an ongoing flare the hormonal swings during pregnancy could send it into a tailspin. I wouldn't risk it.
