rectal meds advice

Hey everyone,

I hope everyone is doing well.

I’ve been doing well on on infliximab, had a scope a few weeks ago and my dr was really pleased with my progress but said I had very mild inflammation right at my rectum.

I was given some budenfoalk foam as I’m down to 5mg pred and my gi wanted to be safe. Ive been seeing streaks of blood so I used the foam but I’m not having too much luck. It’s really painful to use and feel it’s irritating me. I’m really annoyed as really wanted it to work! I’ve been using it a few days and I still have blood and after using it this morning after my stool it was really sore. I am making sure it has plenty of lubricant so I’m not sure what to do, should I give up? Or keep on?


I’m really close to remission so this is extremely frustrating 😫 why is the rectum such a pest! Have been flaring for well over a year now and just tired of it all

In the UK, I use Salofalk liquid enemas, which I find soothing and easier to retain, and Pentasa suppositories. I tried Salofalk suppositories but they didn't work as well for me. Not sure why that is.

In the past I've used Asacol foam but the Salofalk foam I tried recently burnt like hellfire!

I think it's a case of trial and error to find the best combination for you.
