Nice to see you all again after quite a long time, especially my key advisor, Dr. Quincy.
I had a flex sig this week and it showed moderate inflammation in the rectum, all told a foot of colon.
Several months back, I had stopped doing the mesalamine enemas nightly (huge mistake) because I was having to run to the bathroom all the time and I couldn't hold it in. It would pour out with leaking stool. (I'm so in denial that I need enemas nightly --- no taper needed here).
Doc said I have active UC and outlet constipation for which I'll need physical therapy.
I still have urgency and I'm leaking when I pass gas. I'm having accidents. :-(, but fewer since I went back on enemas.
Good news. Metamucil is giving me normal stools. ( I had tried everything)
GI told me to continue taking enemas nightly and canasa in the morning.
I mentioned steroid enemas and he was adamently against it.
Why would he reject it? Any thoughts?
