Budesonide v. Budesonide MMX

I'm a little fuzzy on whether there is a difference between budesonide and budesonide MMX, or if they're the same medication now. The generic budesonide I was prescribed makes no mention of "MMX technology", and my medical plan's Rx finder doesn't list a budesonide MMX. However, most studies on budesonide's efficacy DO make reference to MMX.
I'm a bit confused - does anyone know?

How often did you take the generic budesonide?

The MMX is a once a day extended-release from what I read.

9mg taken once a day, and it does say "extended release" on the bottle.

Then I would say that the MMX is the registered trademark of the medication delivery system, and extended release is on the generic.

Cortiment and Uceris are the registered brands that have that delivery system.

Yep, that sounds like a reasonable way to view it. Thanks.
BTW, for anyone who searches for Entocort in the future, that brand name budesonide has been discontinued by its manufacturer; learned that from my pharmacy this week.

Agree with everyone else here, but in my experience the Budesonide did....... nothing. Started a flare and they tried to keep me off pred, this drug did zero. But it was a rapid and awful flare. Good luck!

Entocort is different than Uceris, just fyi. Entocort is usually given for Crohn's, Uceris for UC.
