I will be having my 2nd Loading dose of Entyvio and heard the 2nd Covid Booster should be available soon (Age 74). Will I need to wait until I am through with the loading doses to have the Booster? Sent a message to my Dr. today.

Most MDs would tell you no. My personal opinion is that you should wait. That's a lot to put on your immune system at one time. The boosters have been scientifically shown to confer minimal further protection anyway, so you're not putting off something super important.

You probably don't need to wait. Entyvio doesn't suppress your immune system like other biologics do since it's focused on your colon. Check with your doc and see what he says. Others here who are on Entyvio had great response to the vaccine and have high levels of antibodies. Hopefully someone will come along and say if they scheduled their doses between infusions or if they just got the shots irregardless of the timing. Boosters do increase your antibodies. They may not prevent getting Covid but do prevent serious illness which is especially important the older you are.

When will your 3rd dose be? My mind is blanking out on me — is the schedule 2,4,8 weeks? Or 0,2,6 weeks? I tried to look back on my calendar to see when I had my vaccines in relation to infusions but can’t go back far enough to my first 2 vaccines. However I had an infusion on Oct 5 and my 3rd vaccine on Oct 12.

You’re in a little different situation with loading doses tho. Personally I would wait at least 2 weeks after an infusion and preferably halfway between an 8 week interval.

FYI even tho Entyvio is not a listed medication on some lists of immune suppressing drugs, I haven’t ever been asked which drug I’m on when I say I’m immune suppressed. Immune suppressed individuals are already eligible for booster #4. I haven’t had mine yet —was waiting for the Pfizer omicron booster which was supposed to be out this month but I haven’t heard anything on it yet so will probably go ahead soon with moderna again

Loading doses are 0,2,6. I just had dose 2 today. The 2nd Booster was approved today in the USA. Will probably wait until loading doses are complete. Thanks for your response.

Can you link to a study which shows this? Most of the data I have seen shows that boosters increase antibodies significantly but the effect is short-lived (i.e. ~3 months).
It is well established that the vaccines significantly reduce the chances of hospitalization or intensive care once hospitalized.

Yes boosters do help. I had a huge increase in antibodies after my 3rd dose — and they had started to decline from my level after the dose #2. There was a signify that increase.
