I agree it will be stressful...however, if Pumpkin can see the crate as a restful comfortable refuge, she will a probably adapt quickly.

When will the surgery happen? It's good you're working from home.

Thanks. I'm not sure yet. The vet said it wasn't urgent and to read up on it and get back to her with any questions. I hope your hip is doing ok.

Also, can I ask your advice on something? I had my last full colonoscopy in November 2020. Then I had a flex sig in June 2021. My current GI wants me to get a scope done soon to see how well the Xeljanz is doing, but I sometimes flare after scopes and am hesitant to get another one before my 2-year regular check for cancer, etc. Do you think I should get one this fall/winter since that would be 2 years since the last full scope or do you think I could safely go 2 years from the flex sig I had last summer? I've never had any polyps found or anything like that.

My hip is so-so...seems more front groin hell, and certain movements are intense. I'm sitting with the TENS on the front of my leg, and I must say it feels amazing. So far, that's been a huge plus....although one wrong move can negate it altogether.

Re c-scope...you shouldn't have issues if you're in remission or made worse if in a good healing stage. You have the enviable benefit of having GoLytely...at least the sweeteners won't be at play to have the possibility of having an effect.

Plus, you could use mesalamine enemas right after the scope for a bit 😉

Ok, thanks. And yeah, you're probably right. I made an appointment for one in mid-September. May end up having to push it back depending on my ride's work schedule and Pumpkin's surgery. Does life ever let up? Like, seriously.

Enemas, oh yay! Haha. Just kidding but it's been nice not having to use them anymore. But happy to use them if needed. Still have several boxes in my closet.

I had my last Colo in Nov 2020 and there’s no way I’m having one this year. I’ve had enough with scopes.

countess: I hear you! I scheduled one for September, but now my cat is having surgery Aug. 16, so I may push it back. I don't think I'll feel comfortable leaving her alone half the day and then being out of it while she is recovering.

My husband had colonoscopy about 6 months after he started Xeljanz in 2016. The result showed full histologic remission. Next one was 3 years later. We'll see what doc says at the next visit about scheduling the next colonoscopy. Continues to be completely symptom free.

After taking about 6 months to taper from 20 mg to 15 mg, he is now slowly tapering to 10 mg. So far so good.

How long has your husband had UC, suzy-q? That's good to hear he continues to be doing well. My boyfriend also has UC and has been on Xeljanz for about 2.5 years and in remission the entire time. He was put on it shortly after being diagnosed.

Diagnosed in 2013. Tried remicade, humira and entyvio before Xeljanz, which was the miracle drug.

Suzy- doesn't his Dr recommend scopes every 2 years if he's had UC that long or no?

My recollection was the doc recommended every 3 years, but it’s been awhile. He has annual GI appointment this September and I’ll update you.
