How long for Entyvio to work?

I think they had me wait like 4 or 5 months before moving on. It was insane. You have a j-pouch and still need this? Or do you still have your rectum?

The Entyvio Warriors group on Facebook is very active, and this question comes up a lot. Many people advise waiting six months or even longer.

I started Entyvio in April and was able to taper off the steroid budesonide during my loading doses without a return of symptoms. But my GI didn’t even want a calprotectin test until after my fourth dose—he wanted to give it time. I feel very lucky to have a good response this quickly, but it does seem like others can still respond to the drug in a longer time frame, so I’d advise patience if you can wait. Everyone knows their own capacity to live with the waiting, though.

So I have been in remission on entyvio for 5 years. It took about 4 months to be symptom free. However, a colonoscopy at 6 months showed microscopic inflammation still. I was having no symptoms by then so didn’t worry too much and the next scope showed complete remission.

But I had a lot of improvements in those first four months. I started a prednisone taper and was able to successfully wean off for the first time in a year.

I don’t recall exact timeline anymore but I do remember the first 8 week stretch (so that was probably 2- 2 1/2 months in) was a little tough, but I used Canasa suppositories and uceris foam to help tide me over to the next infusion.
