(Or I think 4.8g is the equivalent in America?)

Does it become too dangerous above 4g?

I will be honest that I forgot to take my usual 4g dose two days ago so I have taken 6g yesterday and 6g today. No, I won’t make a habit of it and will stick to 4g from now on. Just wondering why 4g seems to be the limit for prescribing?

4800mg/4.8g is the max from what I've read. However, there were some on higher dosage of oral, but don't remember who.

Are you also in rectal mesalamine?

I’m not sure, but I think 2g might be equivalent to 2.4g in America… not sure though, I just know we’re usually prescribed 2g or 4g and I think you usually have 2.4g or 4.8g?

Yes I’m on enema but only 2g/day smile I also am on budesonide

Re on higher dosage...that's dr rx, not on their own.
4g is 4g. Much would depend on the dosage of each pill or granules, plus efficiency and effectiveness of the delivery system.

I've taken 4.8 grams since 2007. Not sure why it's capped there but I assume they did studies on dosages, safety and effectiveness when it was first approved just like any drug.

I am on 4.8g oral and 4g rectal so 8.8g total. I have seen studies using higher doses of oral (up to 9.6g) I'm not sure why they're not used more often...I don't think there have been large scale trials.

Edit: i forgot to say. I am in Europe and I get tablets of 1.2g each. It's called mezavant. It's more expensive than the generic stuff. My doctor moved me onto that from the regular mesalazine tablets when I started seeing an IBD specialist.

Also: i have taken double doses by accident a couple of times. You'll be fine.
