Dont need enemas while you are on Aza?

Had a scope on 19th found moderate colitis from proximal descending colon to distal transverse colon thats 40-60 cm in between. Rest of the colon is ok. Doctor thinks my distal colon is fine bcz of enemas and problem in transverse bcz enemas not reaching there. Orals not doing anything. Now he wants to put me on short coarse of pred along with azathioprine. He told me to come off enemas gradually while aza builds up in my system. Wondering is it ok to wean off enemas while you are on aza? Is it true that you dont need enemas with Aza. Anybody has any experiences?

Yes Quincy, he did increase orals to 4800 mg. My GI advised that i can come off enemas slowly as Aza will take care once its builds up in system. Ofcoarse he is going to confirm that with a scope. So, just want to know if people on Aza managed to stay in remission without any rectal meds.

My situation is slightly different since my inflammation is only to 27 cm but I stayed on the enemas every other day until I was on Aza for 6 months. Then I tapered to twice a week and haven't used them now since 2021. Aza has worked really well for me, hope it helps you too!
