Interesting that this doctor mentioned "the size of what they took out". So the oncologist should tell you the size and other characteristics of the surgical extraction, such as whether the tumor got staged, was removed with additional tissue, etc.-- probably yes to the additional because they did mention nodes to you at 1st post-surgery check-up. Thankfully you can already function on your own steam, plus he didn't gloss over your remaining pain issue. Hang in there! / Old Hat

As far as I know, the tumor got taken out, along with some tissue and 14 lymph nodes were tested. All nodes were negative and surgeon said everything was taken out and was very happy. I'll know more once I meet with the oncologist. And no glossing over pain issue. I'll be sore for a few months. I'm going to try wearing a soft bra today. Doctor said it's ok to try and see how comfortable that is.

One thing is that everyone I see is commenting on how great my skin looks. That's because I'm not smoking anymore. Smoking takes away oxygen from the skin.
I went to my deli yesterday to pick up candy, etc. for when I get cravings, and the deli guy threw in some extra stuff for my cravings. LOL

Pain is getting better. Now it just feels like I have mildly sore ribs.

I did go for another x ray over this weekend. The doctor will call me this week to give me an update.

Good news RE incision, Michele!!!! A lot of "traffic" must have gone in then out of rib area during the surgery. Probably the doctors didn't tell you about that beforehand, thinking it might freak you out. You really have been a brave trooper through all these recent medical procedures. Thanks! I appreciate the support from you and everyone! The only thing that I know of is a tiny tiny kidney stone that my kidney doctor is keeping an eye on. When I had that surgery in April they said the stone was so tiny they couldn't get it out. I'll be going for a cat scan of that in September and having a follow up with the doctor.

What gets me is how do people do elective surgeries? Who would want to go through this much pain? I guess whatever rocks your boat.

I had open chest surgery in 1975 for a collapsed lung...I can relate to your discomfort. The breathing exercises are good for you to do. I wonder if the coughing is from the lung reacting from it being "irritated" from the surgery?

It's certainly less mental and physical distress that you have the option to work from home. Looking forward to your update re Friday checks.

Michele...it was a tough and at least 6 months healing process before I felt more normal. I still had to be careful doing some things. I did cause an injury from lifting something too heavy that caused fluid between the muscles under the shoulder blade just above the incision. I had to have it drained a few times.

I didnt ask...how many holes into your lung for the instruments were needed to do the surgery?

Sounds like you are getting around better and healing. Hopefully that discomfort eases soon!

Tests from yesterday: x ray of lungs showed no significant changes, which means healing is going fine. Ultra sound of kidneys showed one tiny stone in each kidney (0.3 and 0.4). I'll be going to the doctors Monday and Tuesday and will give an update.

I'll update Monday when I get home from oncologist.

The kidney doctor is Tuesday. I'm going to see if I can do a wave sound treatment to blast the tiny stones.

Both plans sound good. I hope all is clear re bloods, and that you can get those blasted stones blown so that they can make their escape 😊

Kidney stone doctor will keep an eye on the baby kidney stones. He recommended Theralogix XR Vitamin and Mineral supplement, which I ordered.

So, next update will be when my bloodwork comes back that is being tested for tumor cells. Fingers crossed that it's negative!!

For both issues, I have to do periodic cat scans and ultrasounds for now.

I was thinking that too about the baby stones...
