Sacroilliitis attack, ugh!

Well, I wasn't expecting this just now, but it's a nuisance that started Sunday evening with soreness in outer-edge of an upper thigh. Then the next evening it affected lumbar area + butt central. Became a huge effort to rise from seated position or bend to pick up an object accidentally dropped onto floor. This 1st hit me decades back shortly after DX with UC, when I felt like my lower torso was encased in cement. Last time it struck was autumn 2021 on the 5th day following my 3rd COVID-19 Vaccine shot! Thus far applying Icy Hot lotion to painful areas has helped me to keep moderately mobile and to get some sleep, but this time I did have to cancel an unrelated doctor's appointment on Tuesday (LOL). Trying to stay positive though I'm scheduled for COVID '24-'25 booster shot next week + DEXA-scan, 'cause 2022 scan showed some degree of osteopenia. Getting too olde to tolerate repeat nonsense like aches & pains ... / Old Hat (40+ yrs with left-sided UC; in remission taking Colazal)

Ouch, sorry to read about what you are dealing with. If you don't feel like you are getting much improvement, consider buy some Salon Pas patches with lidocaine. These help me quite a bit.

Another thing, invest in a reacher/grabber, we would be lost without ours. I am 4"11" now thanks to osteoporosis. I use my grabber to get things out of the cabinets in the kitchen. I wish I had invented those things, lol.

OH...I know that pain and the suffering that it causes. Have you called your doc to see if you can get imaging done?

Many thanks to all for your empathy. Straydog, I've been meaning to check on pain patches so will look for your recommended brand. Luckily the 30% methyl salicylate helped me again with this sacrum attack. I was able to show up for PCP office visit on Friday which was calming, except that she'll complete her internal med residency come June then return to her home state-- so I'll have to find another primary down the winding road. I already had a recheck DEXA-scan scheduled for this coming week prior to sacrum attack and discussed postponement with PCP, who agreed to that re-arrangement. Will strive to attend previously-scheduled COVID booster shot appointment soon because the local pharmacy booking slots have already filled up since I nabbed one ca. 3 weeks ago. Then I'll just have to cross my fingers that the booster doesn't revive sacrum troubles ... last year's vaccine came off OK but a couple months later I did get a respiratory bug that caused overnight wheezing for more than a week. Hoping that 2025 gives all of us good breaks in the health dept.!!!!! / Old Hat *** P.S. to Clo: the Mayo Clinic online patient info includes a good explanation of sacroiliitis, with diagram of main area it affects.

Thanks, Straydog! The methyl salicylate in Icy Hot lotion did help me to overcome in 4 days. I was able to visit PCP's office last week, then went to local pharma for COVID updated booster shot yesterday. So far, so good. Just CVS has been messing with my Colazal refill due on 10/20; they keep trying to change the 60-day supply to 90 days! Have posted to my gastro's office about that, asking them to phone the pharmacist. (My PCP is actually a 3rd yr resident in internal med; I mentioned the Colazal supply issue to her, which came as a surprise. So I then told her what you had confided here about your daughter's trouble with insurer RE brandname drugs Rx-- that really made her angry to hear how CVS even dumps on an mm patient!) Fingers crossed for 11/5 to turn out in patients' favor 'cause we surely don't need more privatizers interfering with our health insurance! (BTW, Faithmac still hasn't checked back in here. She had mentioned residing in a large FL retirement community.) / Old Hat
