Happy new year, everyone. I haven't been around here much because I've been doing fairly well and also BUSY.
I'm on antibiotics right now for the first time since starting biologics (Entyvio in April 2022). I had an infusion the Friday before Christmas, and since then my kids and I have been passing around RSV and strep throat.
I bought a large bottle of Florastor at the pharmacy on Sunday night when I picked up my penicillin and have been taking it with each dose. I'm taking my normal probiotic midday and at bedtime, at least a few hours after the penicillin doses.
Last night, after eating dinner, I started to have a come-and-go quite sharp but also very localized (dime-sized?) pain a few inches to the right of my belly button and a little lower. It's not like a gas ache or any other pain I'm used to. I'm pretty sure it's not my abdominal muscle, either. It comes and sort of pulses for a few seconds and then goes away.
My questions:
1) does anyone know what this pain is likely from? Mostly, I'd like to understand it.
2) does anyone know at what point I would want to alert my doctor (it seems ridiculous to seek care for such a small, localized, transient pain)?
3) does anyone have other advice on ways to support my system through antibiotic treatment?
I'm so grateful for the relative stability I've had on Entyvio and have read up on past forum posts about folks who both struggle with antibiotics and also are totally fine. (Hence the immediate Florastor purchase!) But I'd like to do whatever I can to maintain that stability through this little hiccup.
Thanks, all!
