So, I went to see my primary doctor yesterday to discuss my weight gain since being diagnosed with UC. We got to talking about
Prednisone and he then told me that Asacol was also a steroid. I have never heard of that before. Does anybody know if that's true?

If a doctor tells you that Asacol is a steroid, you need to find another doctor! No, Asacol is a 5-ASA NOT a steroid in any way or form.

I hate to tell you this, but..................It sounds like that Doctor got his license in a gumball machine or a cracker jack box. It is in no way, shape or form a steroid. He needs to go back to school.

Is there any chance you might have misunderstood him? It's pretty scary if a doc said that, unless he simply made an honest mistake, thinking about
pred or something when he was referring to asacol.
:)
