As a result of reading various threads here, and some Googling for prices, I decided to try some probiotics. I went down to my local health food store and browsed a little and the only brand I recognized was Nature's Way. So I picked up a 30 pack of Primadophilus Reuteri. The label says one a day, but from reading here I see many people recommending two. Does our disease require more, or is it just the ole "If one's good, two's gotta be better." syndrome?
If you are flaring, it is a good idea to go slowly to determine what types and amount of probiotics you can tolerate. If you have no problems, then the general consensus is to take a minimum of 7 - 10 billion cfu's a day in order to derive any therapeutic value.
I personally recommend refrigerated probiotics to insure potency - preferably ones that list strains used (not just species), and are derived from food sources. One view on the importance of refrigeration can be found at
