IMO, one should try to eliminate sugars altogether until they know how much their guts can tolerate and how to control their UC symptoms like some of the pros here on the website. Controling your UC may take months or years or whatever but you will learn to understand your body more through the process. I don't eat much sweets but I'm not going to lie. I play basketball and drink a gatorade every once and a while. i walk to other peoples offices here at work and snatch a couple candies (whoppers and kisses) especially during holloween time. But if I had any advice for newbies to UC is to try and eat less sugars and try to eat more whole foods and good things.
My 2yo daughter is a chocolate milk junkie but eats no candies since she lives with me. I'm curious to see her BM changes when she goes trick-or-treating and eats tons of candy with her mother...
