It has been so long sine I have pooped 'normally' that I have no idea if what I am experiencing is my UC acting up or of this is what healing feels like.

Basically I am having BM's every two days. The thing is though when I go, OMG it's like gigantic! Literally 2 feet long. Then 10 minutes later more urgency and Im running to the bathroom and pass another foot long poop. Aside from the urgency beforehand, there is no pain and no blood. I'm not complaining...this is definitely better than 15 bouts of mucous and blood per day but I'm just wondering if this sounds right. I'm tapering off my pred and on Monday Iam going down to 10mg and I wonder if the sheer volume is a warning sign to stay at 20g a little longer. Or is this what healthy non UC people experience. Sorry for the TMI!

     I wouldn't worry about having a long poop..lol.  Sometimes mine (while in remission) are long too and I often wonder how my colon can hold so much poo.

     I am flaring now, my poos are full of mucus, blood and I have terrible urgency.  As a matter of fact, I cannot hold it at all and am wearing Kotex pads.  I also have port a pots in almost every room of my house because I cannot make it to the bathroom even though we live in a rancher.

    So, Stella (which was my mom's name, by the way), count your blessings and pray that the poops stay healthy.

The volume and only going once every other day sounds ok. The urgency is a bit concerning...maybe you just need to get used to sitting on the pot a bit longer? I had to get used to spending more than 30 seconds on the toilet to have a BM when I got into remission. ;)

Sometimes when I get used to having to go 30 times a day, when I start into remission, I feel like somethings "wrong" when Im not going so often. I will feel like I need to go even when I dont really need to, just because the feeling keeps coming (out of habit?)
Maybe after you go the first time, your body thinks you need to go more. Its kind of like you get so "used" to that feeling of urgency your body keeps doing it anyway.
