Carol...question about your mom's condition

Hi Christine, thanks for asking. What she has is called achalasia, which is a loss of sphincter muscle relaxation. All of us kids have been trying to get her to go and get surgery to have it corrected for many years, but she does not want to do it. She's eighty years old, and never been in the hospital except to have her four children and the stubborn 95 pounds that she is won't budge on the subject! She lives on Ensure, and she is really losing more and more weight, and I can tell when she doesn't eat anything because she has a bit of a memory problem (well, plus being eighty!) But I call her mighty-mo, because she just keeps on a-going; on what -- I'm not sure!

lol, that is a funny story too -- I think they get more set in their ways as they age! A couple of weeks ago when it was so icy out, my parents wanted to drive around to do some errands. I offered for us to do it, but my Dad, well, he told me that his livelihood being a police officer was driving around and he's just fine doing it. He's 85. Needless to say I finally convinced them into staying put for the day. ;-)
