I was hospitalized last December for severe abdominal cramping and a full body rash. The rash could be explained away by a virus or an allergic reaction to a medication. But here is where the Ah-ha moment comes in....I had NO symptoms of Uc when I was having the abdominal pain - no D, no bleeding and prior to abdominal pain, no left sided pain. I have left sided Uc so why the heck was I having pain on the right? So I got to thinking....

What if it wasn't my Uc at all that was causing this? What if it was the Diverticulosis? I probably had it in December (diagnosed with it yesterday)...it was after Thanksgiving that I started getting the pain. I then recall that I ate a cheeseball with nuts and sweet potatoes with pecans. Maybe these nuts got stuck in the pockets
If this is something that I have to deal (possibly) with in the future - I don't want it! That freakin' hurt! I know, I know......I just have to be more careful what I eat and trust me, I will be from now on. But it's like that bad visit at the dentist. You know it may hurt to go again but if you just keep brushing your teeth and flossing, it will prevent pain of cavities. However, that initial fear is still there.
