has any one used Entocort?

I was given advice to try entocort in substitute for predisone. Entocort is labled for crohns but was wondering if any ucers tried it and had any success.

It's really meant for the terminal ileum, at least as far as I understand things. I don't know how effective it will be in the colon. Is your inflammation pretty high up in the colon?

I've used it and it didn't seem to help, but then Prdnisone didn't touch my last flare either.

I have heard prednisone is a lot more effective for treating UC but I have seen some people here mention having good results with Entocort. I think if I were in your shoes, having had a past reaction to steroids, I would probably want to try Entocort over pred but I just hope it is as effective for you. I've heard Entocort has a lot less side effects. I wish it were an option for me, my GI just told me prednosine, I didn't even kn ow Entocort existed. Of course I couldn't have afforded anything brand name, I had no insurance at the time.

I tried Endocort, and if it worked, I would hate to see what I would have been like if it didn't. Didn't seem to help me at all.

My inflammation is throughout my colon and a bit of my small instine called "backsplah".

I was told you can't go by the FDA label for off label use. You really need to consult with a pharm-d who specializes in that drug type.

Am hoping to try entocort and entocort enema. We'll see what response I get from the doc.

I had bad side effects from hydrocortisone enema and it also worsen my condition. Can't tolerate masalamine either. I'm very sensitive to these treatments. Seem to be doing ok on budesonide suppositories (which is the same as entocort) and ldn.

I used Entocort a couple years ago, it did not help my UC but I enjoyed the feeling of being SuperWoman, lots of energy. However I didn't like some other side effects like bruising on legs and arms. My GI tried various alternative drugs with me (never prednisone however), one after the other, but nothing ever helped me until I tried diet mod. one last time.

I have no problems with mesalamine (other than not helping my UC) but 6mp made me feel lousy.

Good luck, you won't know until you try it.

I swear by Entocort. It does take awhile for it to work (about 3 months) be patient

Hey Jano437,
How are you doing with methotrexate?

Are you still on Entocort as well?
I can't go on Entocort yet since I'm still on prednisone according to my doctor.

jano437..that's great news to hear! so it worked for the pancolitis? Did you take any enema as well?
