Doctor said im fine but

Hey Im 17 years old, male and i saw my doctor about two weaks ago he said i was good to go. after about being on pred about 4-6 months and mezavant and many mesalamine enemas. Im on about 10mg pred each day and 4 pills off the mezavant and i was fine untill a couple days i kept seeing a little mucus but i saw some blood as well. Is this something i should approach my doctor about or is this normal

tapering off started at60mg a day for a week then next week 50mg a day for a week and so on i was then put on 40mg a day for a week and recently just started tapering off again i was suppose to be completely off the pred in a couple of days but im not to sure after this..

     Do you have ulcerative proctitis?  That was my problem.  It is very difficult to treat.  Your symptoms sound just like mine did.  No, having mucus and blood is NOT normal.  That is how my flares started each time.  Do you have urgency too?  Have you tried Rowasa or Cort enemas?  They may give you some relief.  Are you on a maintenance drug, such as Colazal or Asacol?

Are you still doing the enemas...those are my lifeline...you should still be doing those if you are having symptoms and then once you don't have symptoms still do them nightly for a week and then start weaning down to a maintenance dose. Right now I do them every 3rd night or so and has been working beautifully. If the enemas don't help then you may different meds.
