Well supposedly going home today! At 9:30 am PA said I was getting discharged! Is now 1:00 and we are still here! This whole hospital thing is interesting. They leave me alone during the day then wake me up all night!
I will go home w/ a picc line and do TPN at night. I will have this for probably 10 more days. My best girlfriend has offered to bedazzle the IV pole ;)
Have a lovely case of pred/tpn induced diabetes. So we will be monitoring my blood sugar as well.
I have half forgotten I have UC w/ all the other things to worry about
!
Home health comes today to teach us everything. I see my GI next week. Then will hopefully start Remicade once the humira is out of my system.
They switched me to asacol but I don't do the best w/ mesalmines. I'm going back on the Colazal, 40 mg of pred and cort enemas. So not much of a big change (except for the pred).
Trying to stay positive. Little worried about
picc line care and the whole blood sugar mess. Got to have some crackers today which was nice.
Thanks for listening!

I am happy you're going home today but I can't believe all you've been through. I hope you heal quickly.

Hope you continue to heal nicely once you're home. Remember to take the time to rest! Maybe delegate others to help you out so you can do so.

Thanks everyone! So nice to be home!
Still not loving the picc line but have had a nurse out the last 2 days to help us.
My blood sugar is still all over the place but monitoring it is easy.
Still having D. Which is odd b/c I was admitted for bleeding not D! I'm hoping once I add more solid foods it will get better.
Otherwise just hanging out :)

Hope you are feeling better. Reading your post gave me deja vu. I was in your shoes in 2008. Hated to have that pic line in but beats being jabbed and your arms turning purple. I also had prednisone induced type 2 Diabetes...not fun! Are you on medication for it? My family doctor had me on a low dose of an oral diabetic medication...cannot remember the name of it offhand. How is your blood pressure? When I suffered with UP and on prednisone, my blood pressure was off the wall and I had to take three different meds for it.

Hi Christine! I check my blood sugar every 6 hours. I have a bottle of insulin and needles if I get too high. I'm on TPN too and that messes up your blood sugar. So far so good today!
My blood pressure is good...thankfully!
Yes picc line is about
to worry me to death. And it itches!

I see your proctitis is considered moderate...lol. So was mine! Hate to see what they consider severe proctitis..probably have one foot in the grave with that!

Susans...looks like you sure had your problems with that j-pouch. I have a permanent ileo but my surgeon did not sew the anus closed. He said there are more complications when that is done. I suppose I have to trust his judgment but sometimes I have itching and still have those little skin flaps hanging out my anus..gross. Otherwise, with exception of bad bones (thanks to prednisone), I feel great.
