Second Date Ideas While Flaring?

I have a second date with a girl I'm wanting to learn more about. I haven't felt fireworks yet, but we had a really good time together going out last weekend. Now I'm planning on taking her out Saturday evening.

The problem is my colon, of course. Going for walks where there aren't bathrooms is out. I know the regular ideas: dinner, movie, maybe bowling etc. I try to be more creative, and stand out. I'm looking for coping strategies to deal with a colon that may have some urgency, and/or any date ideas that are a little creative... and where there are bathrooms.

My usual medicating for going out is 2 lomotil and 2 tylenol. That isn't going to tide me over as of lately, though :(

I had this idea that we could go out to dinner, and then I could give her a choice of things to do. I thought it would be neat to tell her to pick someone who could use a pick-me-up, I'd do the same, and we could go out to try to find them cards and a gift such as a book or something. There would be bathrooms there, we could learn about each other, and it's different. Then an evening drink (not alcohol for me) and call it a night. She has told me her brother still lives at home and is dealing with some serious illness, they think in his intestines. I wanted to say "Oh, probably Chron's or Colitis", but I just nodded my head. So... I thought maybe she'd enjoy getting him a little something. Or whoever else she wanted to.

Any thoughts? I have mixed feelings on dinner. I love going out to eat, but dislike the angst of the aftermath while flaring... that happens sometimes. But... I haven't come up with a full evening without it, either.

I second the museums. But afraid its not opened on saturday nights?
Some are in London here though.

Are you in a big city or near the coast?
If near the coast evening cruises might be available (very romantic and relaxing)

Ive been to a swing dance class last week and it was such great fun! Not everyone is a great dancer. Its a dance that doesnt involve too much sexiness. However i would do it before diner.

You can be more adventurous and go to a karaoke. Can be painful for a man I know but if you two overpass that shyness and let it go you could have lots of fun!

I think to give her some choices is the way to go. You can surprise her with funny options and she can chose what she prefers. After all its only a second date but as a girl I can reassure you I like surprises... just not bad surprises so go on with the 2-3 choices!

maybe invite her over for dinner so you are more comfortable and then play board games, puzzles, or watch youtube videos. this way you don't have to be really anxious about not having a bathroom. also, going to bookstores or thrift shops is fun. i guess what i'm trying to say is that you don't necessarily have to impress someone by doing creative dates. i think it's the person's company and connection you have with them that makes doing the lamest things really enjoyable.

i like your idea of going somewhere to pick something out for someone that needs a pick me up. that is actually a creative idea (and thoughtful)

 

can you give more details about the state you are in /nearby city?

things that come to mind are ghost tours, sporting events, concerts etc.

do you know the kind of things she is interested in? 

 

I am a homebody. I think asking her over to watch a movie and ordering in is nice. I guess it's not very exciting for a 2nd date but if you're not feeling good, being at home will make you a lot more comfortable. On the other hand, asking her to your home may seem a bit forward or pushy so you have to weigh that aspect. Some people are more open to staying in than others. I am always trying not to spend money :)

Oh man, I live 20 min from the beach and go there all the time. I really hope that doesnt really happen. Sure a quick dip to cover an accident or wash up fast but if you knowingly are going into the water for that purpose I'm speechless. If someone has to keep running into the ocean to do that it would be best for everyone if they just stayed home.

So depending on severity of your flare and the desire to not tell her yet you can always:

Pull the I think I ate some bad chinese last night and I think they poisoned me. Almost everyone can sympathize a bad chinese dinner. Sure its a white lie but it keeps you home for some movies and fun. It also covers your frequent bathroom trips. Make it funny "uh oh time to have a quick chat with general tsao!" Attitude is everything bro. Keep her laughing and she wont care if you are going 20 times. Just keep blaming the chinese food and you are golden.

Take her shopping. Locate all the bathrooms during your walk. If you gotta go drop her off at like Vicky Sea or something and say I'll be back in a flash. She doesnt really expect you to go in there. Hustle ur butt off. If you are crafty you will bring her back something upon your return.

Save dinner for LAST. That is usually the end of the evening and when things go south. Take out is best here. Public restrooms are hit n miss.
