I started pred 40 mg 6 days ago.. will taper by 5 mg every 3 days...does that sound like a good plan?
Improvements I am seeing is only 1-2 bm's a day, no water consistency, just mush and the best improvement of all is the pain has decreased dramatically.
Just wondering when the blood will stop.

Did you already begin to taper? I recommend waiting a few days until you see improvement before tapering. 5mg every 3 days is quite fast. Even when I did a fast taper, I did 10mg a week, which by the way ended with a relapse of my UC ad I had to go back up to 40mg and start over, tapering at 5mg a week. At about
15 mg, I had to go realyl slowly and I had to start 6mp to get things under control. I also took a course of antibiotics while going through all of this. Think positive and keep an
open mind, you will improve. Have you been checked for cdiff?

40 mg for two weeks is about
normal unless the bleeding has stopped prior to that. You've improved alot but everyone is different so there is no telling when bleeding etc will stop. I tapered 10 mg a week till I hit 20 and then did 5 mg a week and I did fine with that.

My cdiff results were negative. When they suspected I had it 3 years ago I never came up positive then but they just treated me for it anyway. I wonder if it cold be the same but I felt so much worse then. My doc says that the tests are so much more sophisticated now.
Should I ask him about
this taper?

Never stopped for me. Started this flare 2 years ago. Nothing works for me
although I haven't tried many of the natural remedies which is next on my list. Not even prednisone helped me.
