Before UC hit me last year, I knew something else was wrong with me. I was abnormally thirsty, drinking massive amounts of water a day. Since then, I don't normally feel this way. It seems some of us with UC can eat large meals and never achieve that 'full' feeling that our peers do, but I know that when I eat restaurant food, say Pizza, I get extremely full and then feel really thirsty afterwards.
Does anyone else experience this? Is there a connection between the salty restaurant food and my extreme thirst and fullness?

Salt makes you thirsty, yes. That's why they give you free pretzel on the plane so you buy their drinks (which cost of course).
Also when you have d, you're dehydrated anyway. So it's a good thing that you drink lots of fluids.

Yeah it's no secret that salt makes you thirsty. Pizza does that for me too. I don't think having UC makes much difference with this. Maybe you just notice it more now.

Hm, more so with me than anyone else I'd say. It's very easy for me to consume too much sugar, get a high and crash, and same with salt, consume too much, and get real thirsty. =/

I'm always thirsty - I'm on a high salt diet believe it or not lol My doc told me to increase my salt intake to help stabilize my blood pressure, it's too low and it drops on occasion making me dizzy or black out. So I am always drinking water!

stereofidelic89,
Have you ever been tested for diabetes?? Same symptoms, extreme hunger and thirst.

Good idea, especially if you have been on pred. That's probably not the case but it is still a good idea to check out the possibility anyway.

Puffed rice, I was tested when I was young for diabetes, but I was fine. Not sure about
now. Like I said though, since supplementing and making diet changes, I've gotten away from these symptoms most of the time.
On my Metametrix GI function profile, the chart suggested I'm close to having pancreatic insufficiency, if thats any help.

You may feel really full (bloated?) from pizza because of a sensitivity to gluten.
And when you eat at restaurants maybe you eat more bread than usual...
