I have had watery D for almost two weeks now, and am wondering if it might be CDIFF. Everything I put in my mouth literally comes right out. I understand I could be in a flare, but usually me flares present with blood, and something about this just feels different to me. I've had some blood in my stool, but not much. I also have not had a fever. Is it possible for CDIFF to present in an unconventional way?
I have IV fluids two times in the past week (once at urgent care and yesterday in the ER), and the ER doc was supposed to run a CDIFF test (his idea based on the length/severity of my D), but when I called the lab to get my results they said the test had been cancelled since I had been released. Someone somewhere made a mistake and canceled the test (which is frustrating to say the least).
My GI doctor thinks I might have all the D from entecourt (we added it into my meds about 3 weeks ago after an increase in blood). He said some people don't respond well to it. After consulting with the ER doc yesterday had me stop the entecourt and up my prednisone to 20mg (I had succesfully tapered down from 60 to 7 over the past few months, and was holding strong at 7 for about 2 months--and as much as I hate prednisone I'm willing to take it if it helps stop all this D).
So far, none of the changes are making any difference, and I'm just wondering if I should really be pushing for a CDIFF test (which I will probably have to wait until Monday for since my doctors office is closed)? Are there any other tests (besides a scope, which I have a feeling will soon be requested by my GI) I should be asking for?
Like I said, something about this bout of D just feels different. Usually when I'm in a flare I have loose BMS with some D, but I am literally peeing out my butt at this stage.
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated.
