Not sure if it's a flare or a result of too much fiber. 2 weeks ago I had a huge BM and since then I increased my fiber. My stomach hurts on and off and I am seeing increased blood.
Should I start with steroid enemas or the mesalamine enemas? I currently take 2 Lialda a day, Vitamin D, and 20mg Prilosec. My last and most severe flare was August 2012.
My last colonoscopy February 2013 showed loss of vascularity, erosions present, friability, patcvhy areas of colitis with intervening normal mucosa-transverse colon
ascending colon- same thing.

I would ask your doctor about
giving sfRowasa a shot, brand only, also fiber made me bleed too, think about
it the fiber is literally cutting into your fragile mucus of your colon.
I have found that since eating a ton of meat AND veggies as oppose to just veggies, I have much less D, C and F. Insoluble fiber is rough on a poor fragile colon!

I don't touch fiber of any kind whether its a supplement or fruits and veggies if I am flaring. I also take 4 Lialda a day when I flare. I've never been on the steriod enemas myself but I would for sure be starting some form of rectal meds. Maybe try the Rowasa ones first for a few days and if they don't help start up on the steriod ones.

I don't think fibre is the actual issue except for comfort and maybe possible increase or decrease in bms (depending on what kind you're consuming).
You're bleeding...you're most obviously flaring.
Do you have either of the enemas...steroid and/or mesalamine?
For you at this point, I'd suggest the mesalamine enemas nightly. Which steroid ones do you have?

I have both mesalamine and hydrocortisone enemas. The bleeding just started this week right one when my stomach starting hurting again.
So start on which enemas?
