Recovering from my flare. Probiotics?

I am a week into recovering from my Failed Vitamin E and no meds trial and have been on cipro/flagyl for infection that got on my ciatica/rectum. I just bought Culterelle and have UFCC 50 billion on order and and a little afraid of taking them. Strange that since the last week my visits to the bathroom are from 2-4 times and the last 2 days no blood and slowly getting more formed also. Today I had 5 and all were even yet more formed but 5 total! I never had 5 ever since dx'd. Could I just have been backed up flaring? I have been eating more the last few days.

I want to start the culterelle tonight. Good idea or bad? I used ufcc50 billion before without issues.

All you can do is try them. Add the UFCC when you get them.

Are you not on any meds because you can't take the 5ASA?

I took the culterelle last night at about 8pm.  I had those much more formed movements yesterday am and was feeling good the whole day. Not long after taking the culterelle I noticed some gas and at 4:30am had to get up with alot of gas and the dischared some small soft stuff with b on it. I then had to get up again at 6:00am and the stool was covered in B and I wpied bright red. I went again at 6:30 and the dame thing. Both of these broke up when flushing like mush. I went again at 7:00am and it was better without much b and saw at the trailing end of my stool which about 5 inches of it was formed had asacol white on it. Wiped and no b.

Needless to say I wont be taking it anymore. Has anyone had a similiar experience? This was definatly a setback and hopefully will only be a day. I will get back on canasa tonight which I had been off of for 2 days.

Some probiotics don't agree with everyone. Its trial and error. Probiotics can make me gassy which is why I take them at night but I have never had any of the other symptoms you experienced.

Just remember that you're obviously flaring. It would be better for you to be on the enemas..however.]

When exactly did you go back on the Asacol?

It's not necessarily the Culturelle...but more that you're flaring.

There are a few factors I can state that could account for your situation.

Hope the other probiotics help.

The Reuteri is an awesome probiotic as well....maybe worth for you to purchase it.

Q, I been on max dose of asacol since last sat..I pray tomorrow morning is better.

While pro-biotics can help, you body needs protein to heal the ulcers on your intestinal walls. Try drinking protein shakes, these helped me recover from a flare well enough that I ended up canceling surgery to give the ultimate pro-biotic a try: fecal microbiota transplant (FMT.)

Other suggestions: I had better results with Apriso than Asacol since it was easier to remember once a day dosing instead of 3 times a day. Mesalamine suppositories also helped as long as I kept diarrhea in check with Immodium and/or anti-anxiety or anti-depressant drugs. The suppositories were most effective while doing them twice a day however once a day was helpful too.

Thanks for the info FTFuc, I keep watching for updates on fecal transplant and I keep it close to me as a last option. Your website is a great resource and appreciate you sharing it with me.

Today, I am better and did not wake early for any movments like yesterday. I had one at 7:30 which is more my norm. I just cant wait for all this infection to clear and not have to take the cipro/flagyl on saturday. The antibiotics are just tough on the body and makes me feel terrible. For now I will be vigilliant as to what I consume till I heal some. The max dose of asacol seems to be helping. I didn't see any blood today.

Good you slept through the night and are a bit better today. Is that without the Culturelle?

The treatment with the cipro/flagyl is tough on the body for sure. Are you having a lot of nausea?
